Use a guide pin, a locating bore as a guide - this is essential for springs having a free length/diameter ratio exceeding 3.5
Apply a minimum preload of 5% of the free length.
Use longer springs at lower loadings where possible.
Always check spring holder heights and working strokes of moving elements after die tools have been reground.
